About: In 2016, our name changed to the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. The inclusion of ‘Great Ormond Street’, is to reflect our close and strong partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital, whilst continuing to be faithful to our mission to improve all of child health. In everything we do, we try to uphold UCL’s values: commitment to excellence and advancement on merit; fairness and equality; diversity; collegiately and community building; inclusiveness; openness; ethically acceptable standards of conduct; fostering innovation and creativity; developing leadership and environmental sustainability. We have had a number of important successes with research funding recently. We were assessed in the UK Research Excellence Framework 2014, where we made an important contribution to UCL’s performance, which ranked top in the UK for research power.
In the clinical medical submission, we were specifically commended for the quality of our outputs, and for our research impact case studies. More recently, in 2015, UCL was the most successful university in Europe in the Horizon 2020 funding round, where UCL co-ordinated 10 awards, and of these, three were co-ordinated from the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. At ICH we offer an extensive range of Masters programmes, and short and taster courses relevant to child health. These courses are excellent examples of research led teaching, where our world class scientists deliver state of the art lectures, and these education programmes continue to expand.
Achievements: The UCL Great Ormond Street Institute for Child Health has excellent facilities for large for meetings and conferences. The venue is available for hire to those within UCL and Great Ormond Street Hospital as well as external organisations wishing to host events. The ICH Events Office provides full event management for events ranging from international conferences and meetings, to product launches and exhibitions, with catering also available. UCL Medical Photography & Health Creatives is a medical photography, illustration, video-conferencing, audiovisual and graphic design department based at Great Ormond Street. Their services are offered both within the hospital and the Institute and to external clients.
